Virginia "Assault" Weapons Ban

Starting July 1st, 2026 Virginia senate bill 749 / house bill 217 will take effect, prohibiting the sale, manufacture, and importation of "assault firearms" and magazines with a capacity of more than 15 rounds.
Banned firearms: semi-automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns with specific features like pistol grips, folding stocks, forward grips, or threaded barrels. This ban leaves only non-threaded Empire profile DISSENT Br4, Br3, and Br47 CMMG firearms available to Virginia residents after July 1st. All affected firearms and magazines purchased and transferred prior to July 1st are grandfathered under the law.
What we are doing: In support of protecting the Second Amendment access for Virginia customers, we are standing with you. CMMG will be prioritizing orders for Virginia residents up to July 1st. This extension allows the opportunity for orders to be placed and prioritized while continuing to stand behind the rights of law-abiding firearm owners.

Virginia governer Spanberger has signed a number of anti-gun bills that will take effect July 1st 2026. CMMG is will be expediting orders to Virginia residents to get all affected firearms on order built and shipped to FFLs for individuals to take possession of before the July 1st deadline.

SB749/HB217 ban certain semi-automatic firearms, including many semi-automatic rifles, pistols and shotguns, and prohibits the sale of magazines exceeding 15 rounds. This bill is an attempt to redefine and ban firearms that are in common use by law-abiding citizens. The legislation would prohibit the future sale, transfer, and manufacture of some of America’s most popular firearms.
SB173/HB229 prohibits the possession of any weapons in a hospital that provides mental health services or developmental services, and provides that any weapons seized in violation are forfeited to the Commonwealth.
HB1525 prohibits the purchase of certain firearms by legal adults under the age of 21. This bill now includes an emergency clause making it law upon her signing rather than on July 1st 2026.
SB727/HB1524 outlaw carrying and transporting many types of common firearms on public property. This includes any semiautomatic centerfire rifle or pistol with a fixed magazine capacity over 15 rounds.
