About CMMG
CMMG ® was established in 2002, when John, Jeff, Gretchen, and Stephanie Overstreet made the decision to create a quality AR rifle that can be afforded by everyone. Since that time, things have continued to get better and better. Although the nature of our business continues to evolve, one thing does not—our commitment to meet each and every morning to pray for God’s wisdom in managing the enormous responsibility that comes with this business. By His grace, we have grown every year! CMMG is constantly looking for new ways to improve our products, processes and company at large. Both our customer service and product lineup continue to be second to none, and all of our rifles and firearms parts are made in the United States from the best materials available. CMMG guarantees its products against defects in material or workmanship for the life of the product. CMMG Inc. will repair, replace or substitute any product(s) if a defect in material or workmanship is found.
For CMMG, Lord God, we pray for Your wisdom in managing the enormous responsibility that comes with this business. We walk in obedience to Your path, we are in your mission, as you have a better direction. Let us not worry ourselves about things that we cannot control but take time daily to come to you in vocal and silent prayer, both alone and together. We give thanks for our customers and team members who support our employment and allow us to bless others. Keep us safe as we continue to produce quality products so that we have work for our hands and serve our neighbors. This work allows us to provide for our families and community, and the defense thereof. We know that ensuring the safety and well-being of our families is a necessity for the serenity and stability of this world. Protect our customers, and their families, and grant them peace of spirit.
For all things that we do not know to prayer for, Lord God, we humbly leave in Your hands. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.
2002
CMMG was established in Fayette, Missouri in 2002, when John, Jeff, Gretchen, and Stephanie Overstreet made the decision to create a quality AR rifle that can be afforded by everyone. CMMG was dedicated to building quality AR15 rifles and parts in the growing and changing market.
2006
By 2006, the company had grown enough that the Overstreet family could not keep up with demand and CMMG began hiring full-time employees, expanding the facility, designing parts, and offering products in multiple calibers.
2009
In 2009, CMMG established a design and engineering team to ensure CMMG would release innovative, high quality, products that excite customers. Premium materials and proven manufacturing methods are utilized to ensure a quality, reliable, and durable product. As design and engineering continued to grow, CMMG established a dedicated quality control department to ensure all parts meet or exceed CMMG’s high quality expectations.
2010
In 2010, CMMG patented and released its first 22LR AR Conversion Kit for the AR15. The kits have continued to evolve over the years, but there is little doubt that this kit signaled a major innovation for CMMG.
2014
In 2014, CMMG released a breakthrough product called the Mk47 that would cement the company as one of the premier innovators in a crowded AR market. With the Mk47, CMMG designed an AR style rifle around the popular 7.62x39mm round commonly found in the AK47. CMMG’s design team settled on a proprietary mid-size platform that combines the strengths of the AR10, AR15, and AK47. The Mk47 combines the accuracy and modularity of the AR-15 with the reliability of the AK47. The Mk47 was designed to harness the power and reliability of the 7.62x39mm cartridge utilizing the POWERBOLT bolt carrier group. The Mk47 won multiple awards for CMMG.
2016
With the success of the Mk47, CMMG then added a standard AR15 mag-well to the mid-size platform and released the MkW-15 chambered in the wildcat .458 SOCOM in 2016. The positive response from customers, retailers, professional shooters, and industry partners confirmed CMMG’s decision to release innovative AR style rifles that address issues commonly found in the AR15.
2016
In 2016, CMMG relocated to a new location in Boonville, Missouri to address infrastructure constraints. Boonville was the childhood home of the Overstreet brothers and it allowed existing team members to stay with CMMG after the transition. CMMG began producing firearms, parts, and accessories on October 24, 2016 in its new manufacturing and assembly facility.
2017
In April 2017, CMMG released yet another game changing innovation. This time, it was a new operating system called Radial Delayed Blowback. Unlike typical direct blowback systems, CMMG’s Radial Delayed Blowback uses a bolt that is forced to rotate and unlock, slowing the bolt carrier group enough to safely cycle. The benefits of Radial Delayed Blowback are most evident in the reduction of weight in the carrier and buffer. Not only does this system mean you have a lighter rifle, the felt recoil is noticeably less than on a straight blowback system. The Radial Delayed Blowback system has since been used to chamber calibers that have historically been problematic in the AR15 platform, such as 10mm, 45 ACP and 40 S&W. CMMG has also used it to chamber 9mm and 5.7x28mm.
2019
In 2019, CMMG sought to bring the benefits of Radial Delayed Blowback to anyone who owns a milspec AR15/M16 lower receiver. Working in collaboration with Mean Arms, CMMG released the 9mm AR Conversion Magazine. The 9mm AR Conversion Magazines make it possible to pair a milspec AR15 lower receiver with a CMMG 9mm Radial Delayed Blowback upper receiver.
2020
Following the success of the 9mm AR Conversion Magazines, CMMG released its 5.7 AR Conversion Magazines at SHOT Show 2020. This release made Radial Delayed Blowback even more accessible to AR owners by allowing them to shoot 5.7x28mm from their milspec AR15/M16, simply by swapping and upper and a magazine.
Today
To this day, CMMG remains committed to bringing true innovation and quality to the industry. Although the nature of our business continues to evolve, one thing does not—our commitment to meet each and every morning to pray for God’s wisdom in managing the enormous responsibility that comes with this business. By His grace, we continue to grow.
